I have spent a lifetime connecting with our great outdoors and have developed a deep-routed passion for all the wonders our fabulous planet has to offer us. From exploring unclimbed mountains in Greenland, to wondering through ancient woodlands in Scotland, nothing recharges my energy levels quite like being outdoors.
With more than 30 years' experience of working in education and training, I am now taking the opportunity to launch a new career in wood-crafting. Using my crafting skills to make and sell unique pieces and tapping into my training and education skills to offer wood-craft skills courses.
Read MoreMy woodland workshop sits at the heart of Wyresdale Park’s 1000-acre country estate, just above the beautiful village of Scorton. Set amongst the trees and woodland trails, this inspirational space is where I create and sell my unique hand-crafted products, as well as running wood-craft skills courses.
There is plenty to do on site and a visit to the splendid Applestore café, situated just above our workshop, is highly recommended. You can also pay a visit to the other artisan retailers, or even go paddle boarding in season. And there’s lots to do in the surrounding area with woodland and countryside walks, including the brilliantly named Nicky Nook Hill with fabulous views of the surrounding hills, the Lakeland Fells and out over Morecambe Bay, and there are glamping opportunities on site for or a great family get away.
I specialise in working with wild wood, turning driftwood, windfall wood and other found materials into a diverse range of one-off items. I also work with seasoned timber acquired from local sources as well as reusing and up cycling waste wood. In my new woodland workshop, you will find hand crafted and locally produced one off creations for those that appreciate something a little different.
From hand carved key rings, sculptural lamps, a range of bread boards and serving platters, to stunning coffee tables and rustic furniture, you will find something to suit every pocket, and some great and unique gift ideas. No plastic, no imports, just real and mostly local wood!
